Holland Hospital issued the following announcement on May 18.

Dr. Matthew Carr, medical director, Holland Hospital Laboratory Services, explains.

While the prevalence of antibody testing for COVID-19 has increased in the United States, Holland Hospital is not currently offering the test, citing a high degree of unreliability for tests available.

Antibody testing involves taking a blood sample and testing it for antibodies developed by the body’s immune system to fight a particular virus or disease.

Dr. Matthew Carr, Laboratory Services Medical Director at Holland Hospital, has been reviewing the benefits and drawbacks of antibody testing as it relates to COVID-19 for the hospital.
