CITY OF BRIGHTON: Asphalt Preservation Treatment - 7/26 to 7/30

Mooreasphalt

City of Brighton issued the following announcement on July 21.

An asphalt preservation treatment, known as Reclamite, will be applied in various parts of the City next week. The following areas will be getting treatment:

  • Church Street
  • Rickett-Between S. Church and Sisu Knoll
  • Alpine Drive and Alpine Court
  • Third Street
  • Fairway Trails and Court
All of the new asphalt in the entire ATF project area is tentitivlely scheduled for Tuesday 7/27. On Wednesday 7/28, the contractor will come back and street sweep the road removing the sand used in the finishing process. Door hangers will be distributed in the affected areas on Monday 7/26 to remind neighbors that crews will be applying the treatment.  The work will consist of spraying the road surface with the treatment, then applying sand to the road surface. The road surface may feel and sound sticky for a few days but this is normal. The treatment will eventually dry up completely sealing the asphalt and protecting it from degradation.

Reclamite is an asphalt emulsion treatment used on newer asphalt. The treatment penetrates the road surface and replaces emulsion that has been “cooked” away during the production and laying process.  It helps increase asphalt flexibility and extend its life. This product will track when driven or walked on, but this will become less likely as the treatment soaks in and completely dries in a few weeks time. This product will not harm your pets and will not harm your concrete. Any material that does get on your driveway will fade over time and it is recommended to keep pets in your yard so they do not track this in your home. All work is weather pending and actual dates of treatment may vary.

The City of Brighton is committed to maintaining quality infrastructure throughout the City.  If you have any questions on this project or other projects, please contact:
