CITY OF LANSING: Meet the Directors: Sharon Frischman, City Assessor

Local gov stock 01

City of Lansing recently issued the following announcement.

As City Assessor, you could say Sharon is a numbers person. Along with her team in the assessing department, Sharon provides a critical resource for our city by determining the taxable status and value of properties, from homes to commercial buildings to land. Her department lends a hand to homeowners by helping find any tax exemptions they’re entitled to, such as from school operating taxes or poverty exemptions. Beyond that, Sharon and her team ensure that all taxable property is assessed in a fair and equitable manner.

A true Lanstronaut, Sharon grew up in Lansing, lived in Southeast Michigan for 25 years, and eventually made her way back to the Capital City about five years ago. Some of her family’s favorite things to do in the city are visiting Hawk Island Park, Potter Park Zoo, and Impression 5 Science Center.

"In Lansing, we are hard-working, fun people who have pride in our city," Sharon says. "This is true of not only the residents, but City employees as well."

If you have questions on navigating the property tax system, Sharon and her team are here to help. Don't be afraid to reach out if you have questions!
