City of Allegan issued the following announcement on Aug 17.
On Friday, August 13, The City of Allegan participated in the Weichert Realtors Platinum Group-hosted desk chair race to benefit Safe Harbor Children's Advocacy Center during Downtown Allegan's Rollin' on the River 2021.
City Manager Joel Dye sponsored the entry and pushed City of Allegan intern, Sarah Perrigo, through the course in a desk chair decked out as the Cornelian, a 1914 American automibile manufactured at the Blood Brothers Machine Company in Allegan.
Howard E. Blood partnered with Swiss racecar driver Louis Chevrolet to qualify for the 1915 Indy 500 in the Cornelian -- like that race, the City of Allegan did not win the desk chair race, but had a good time doing it!
