City of Lansing issued the following announcement on Aug 25.
Mayor Andy Schor today announced that the Department of Neighborhoods and Citizen Engagement is now accepting applications for Community Youth Programming Grants. These funds are part of the budget carryforward plan that was announced recently to support Lansing-based, youth-focused organizations throughout the City of Lansing. Mayor Andy Schor’s proposal to carry forward funds from Fiscal Year 2020-2021 to support activities for youth in the City of Lansing was approved by City Council during their meeting on Monday, August 9, 2021.
Registered Civic Organizations in Lansing can apply for dollars to use toward projects, events and programming that are aimed to help prevent gun violence that involve youth up to age 24. Civic Organizations can apply for multiple grants but must indicate priority on the application. Civic organizations must list a fiduciary or serve as their own as checks will not be written to individuals.
The application window opens on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, and closes on Wednesday, September 22, 2021. Volunteers from the Neighborhood Advisory Board will review, score and award grantees, similar to the existing Neighborhood Advisory Board Grant Program.
Organizations that need assistance with completing any of the forms mentioned can schedule an appointment with Robin Anderson-King, Neighborhood Resource Coordinator by emailing her at: Robin.Anderson-King@lansingmi.gov.
