Re-positioning the home

Home7

City of Hudsonville recently issued the following announcement.

You may have noticed a lot of activity at the corner of 32nd Ave and Allen St. In case you were wondering what's going on there, the city is in the process of re-positioning the home on this lot to make room for the future realignment of Barry St to line up with existing Allen St (see graphic)

The home and garage are being re-positioned to face north (and the future realigned Barry St). Once this step is complete, the city plans to re-list the home on the market and sell it to the highest bidder.  This was seen as a preferred alternative to demolishing a beautiful Hudsonville home that has historical value. It will also enable the city to recoup road funds that were used to purchase the home.

The road realignment project will result in the removal of the double Barry/Allan traffic signal, thereby improving traffic flow and reducing accidents at this poorly-designed intersection. In conjunction with this work, the city will convert 32nd Ave (from Barry St north) to a 3-lane configuration with a center turn lane. All of this work is expected to be completed within the next year or two, and is made possible thanks to a $1M grant from the State of Michigan for this project. Huge thanks to Senator Roger Victory for advocating on behalf of Hudsonville for this funding!

If you have any other questions about this exciting project, feel free to give us a call here at the city.
