Happy Feet Boot Drive

Webp donations003

Allegan High School issued the following announcement on Oct 18.

What is Happt Feet?

Happy Feet started in winter 2019 when my husband had the happy feet idea! At first every boot purchased that winter came directly from our personal funds.

There was such an overwhelming need, in Jan 2020 we decided to start a public Facebook page explaining what we’re doing. We asked for boot and cash donations and watched our close family and friends help! We Happy feeted 34 pairs of boots to students that winter!

Then COVID. This created other challenges, but one huge benefit. RETURNABLES! No one was able to return their returnables so we started collecting. We collected almost $2000 in returnables! All stored outside in garbage bags. (Thank god for great neighbors!)

My amazing family started the very slow process of returning once stores opened. Hours spent at Meijer, hours!

BUT it paid off!

Winter 2020 School year we did things a bit different. We didn’t have many orders for boots, so we decided to use the returnable money to help Mrs. Feffer’s Needs closet at Allegan High School. We purchased personal needs items and gift cards.

We have funds leftover from last winter and have been collecting returnables all summer. We are ready to warm the feet for the 2021 winter!

We’d like to reach further than APS. If you’re part of a school district and have students who could benefit from Happy Feet, please message us here or send a direct email to happyfeetwinterboots@gmail.com

We would love to team with you!
