Coopersville Area Public School District recently issued the following announcement.
Congratulations to Mrs. Rebecca Ophoff, our recipient of the Highlight a Teacher for the month of November!
Becky earned her Bachelor's Degree from Grand Valley State University majoring in English Language Arts. She also received her Master's Degree in TESOL from Grand Valley State University.
Becky was nominated by her colleagues for her above and beyond work inside and outside of her classroom. Becky goes out of her way to make the students in her classroom that have to learn from home feel immersed in their classroom learning. One of the special projects she takes the time to do with fidelity is a program called True Success. True Success is an evidence-based social skills curriculum designed to unleash students' character potential. Becky uses lessons to engage students and teach positive behavior skills in a format that empowers her students to be the best version of themselves.
Mrs. Ophoff gives all her students a character trait to write and illustrate about. Then once all the students have their final draft finished, Becky publishes them in a beautiful hardcover book that each student gets a copy of. Colleagues have witnessed the impact this has on students and their success at school and beyond.
