City of Hudsonville issued the following announcement on Jan 28.

If you have a passion for your community and are interested in serving, a position has become available on the Zoning Board of Appeals.

This is your opportunity to have an impact on development in Hudsonville! If you have any questions on this opportunity, please contact the city's Planning Department.

Zoning Board of Appeals Description:

The Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) reviews appeals from city codes in circumstances that prohibit compliance. They work through why or if the appeal is needed, taking into consideration the applicant, neighbors, and the city, knowing that their decision could be used as a precedent for future projects. The ZBA reviews the information provided to them before the meeting by the Planning and Zoning Department and will go to the site and its surrounding neighborhood to see what impact allowing the appeal would make. In making their decision, the intent is to ensure that development is compliant with the city’s codes and is harmonious with surrounding properties and shall not endanger the health, safety, morals and general welfare of the public. This shall include existing, prospective, or future owners or users of adjacent and nearby properties and the public. ZBA meetings are the third Tuesday of every month and start at 7pm in the City Hall Chambers. They meet an average of 4 times a year, but it could be more or less frequent if there are applications submitted.  Meetings usually are less than an hour in length.
