County of Ottawa issued the following announcement on Feb 10.
THANK YOU to everyone who participated, donated and volunteered for Walk for Warmth last Saturday. We are SO grateful for our community. (Keep reading to see how you can STILL help.) Walk for Warmth raises money for financially qualifying Ottawa County families with utility bills. A one-time helping hand paying an energy bill can make a big difference to a neighbor struggling to stay financially afloat. So many residents who we assist are employed yet still find themselves cash-strapped.
These households are forced to make impossible choices, such as deciding between paying the electric bill, filling a prescription or fixing the car. You can still donate to Walk for Warmth at miOttawa.org/w4w. Checks payable to Walk for Warmth can be sent to Community Action Agency, 12251 James Street, Suite 300, Holland, MI, 49424. You can also share this post so that your friends can also help those in our community who are working so hard, but are one unexpected bill away from being pushed over the edge.
