City of Brighton issued the following announcement on Mar 15.
The City of Brighton is looking for participants to help with our lead and copper sampling program. Lead and copper sampling is required by the State of the Michigan and homeowners must collect the samples. Getting the sample is easy and requires minimal effort. Staff deliver sample bottles to your house and places them on your front porch. Homeowners fill the sample bottle from the kitchen or bathroom faucet, fill out the paperwork, set the sample back on the front porch and we come and pick it up. City staff will not enter your home for any reason, and it will not cost you anything.
However, there are few requirements that need to be met to be eligible to participate.
1. Your house must be built prior to 1988
2. You must have metal pipes (Copper, galvanized, etc., no plastic pipes)
3. Your house must be a single-family residence; no commercial or multi-family residence
If you are interested in helping the water department in fulfilling these requirements, please contact Josh Bradley, Water Department Superintendent, to receive more information.
