It is with extremely heavy hearts that we share the passing of longtime councilman Steve Manor, after a 5 year battle with cancer.
Manor graduated from Western Michigan University and began teaching in 1963. In 1966, he began teaching in Howell and retired from Howell Public Schools in 1998. In 1999, Manor was elected to serve the City of Howell as a Council Member.
Since being elected to City Council in 1999, Manor had served the Howell community in many ways. He served as Mayor Pro Tem, was a member of several boards and committees, and served in multiple volunteer roles. Manor dedicated countless hours to serving the Howell community. His involvement beyond city and council initiatives included Howell Rotary, Parker Skate Park, Countryside Veterinary Dog Park, the Livingston County Diversity Council, and more. Most recently, Manor was given a Congressional Record Statement (attached) from the Office of US Congresswoman Elissa Slotkin, for which he was extremely honored.
Steve Manor’s experience, wisdom and dedication, will be greatly missed by City Council, city staff, and our entire community. Our thoughts are with his family.
