The City of Wayland is seeking a highly motivated individual for the vacant position of Utilities Director.  This position includes supervisory and operator in charge work relating to the maintenance and operations of the City’s water and wastewater systems, and maintained compliance with EGLE. 

Extensive knowledge of water/wastewater treatment processes, water distribution, and sewer collection is required.  Minimum requirements include a High School Diploma or Equivalent, valid Michigan CDL (or ability to obtain one).  City’s required licensure for wastewater is a Class “C” and the City has an S-2, D-2 Water system.  

The City would consider an applicant with lower licenses if they have extensive knowledge, previous leadership experience, and the ability to obtain the above licensure within a reasonable amount of time.  Also, knowledge of other public works functions such as street, parks, public grounds, and storm water system maintenance preferred.  The City offers a salaried-exempt pay range of $68,350 to $85,675 DOQ, and a competitive benefits package including health, dental, and vision insurance, short-term and long-term disability insurance, MERS pension retirement, and generous leave time.
