On June 23, 2023, Congressman Bill Huizenga released the following statement after voting in favor of the Middle-Class Borrower Protection Act. This legislation blocks the flawed mortgage decision recently announced by the Biden Administration to raise the cost of homeownership for individuals with good credit scores.

“The Biden Administration’s rule to force higher fees on creditworthy individuals in wrong,” said Congressman Bill Huizenga. “Potential homebuyers in Southwest Michigan with higher credit scores should not have to pay more to subsidize riskier loans. The Middle-Class Borrower Protection Act stops this redistribution of wealth, holds bureaucrats at Federal Housing Finance Agency accountable to the American people, and restores economic commonsense.”
