West Ottawa Public School District welcomed 6,590 students in 2022-23 school year

There were 6,590 students enrolled in West Ottawa Public School District in the 2022-23 school year, 0.6% more than the previous year, according to the Michigan Department of Education.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 52.8% of them were boys, and 47.2% were girls.

Data also shows that most of the students were Hispanic, representing 42.3% of the West Ottawa Public School District total enrollment.

West Ottawa Public School District covers 13 schools within Ottawa County with its main office in Holland. Among them, West Ottawa High School Campus recorded the highest enrollment of 2,196 students in the 2022-23 school year.

Overall student enrollment in Michigan remains below pre-pandemic levels, white students experiencing the largest decline at 6.5%.

Academic performance has also suffered, with the state's average NAEP score dropping by 6.5 points and ethnic achievement gaps widening. Black and Hispanic students' average math proficiency dropped by 7% in 2022, to 13.5% and 28.2%, respectively.
