Enrollment at Jenison Public Schools increased by 1.6% compared to previous school year

There were 5,198 students enrolled in Jenison Public Schools in the 2022-23 school year, 1.6% more than the previous year, according to the Michigan Department of Education.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 51.5% of them were boys, and 48.5% were girls.

Data also shows that most of the students were white, representing 80.0% of the Jenison Public Schools total enrollment.

Jenison Public Schools covers 11 schools within Ottawa County with its main office in Jenison. Among them, Jenison High School recorded the highest enrollment of 1,495 students in the 2022-23 school year.

Overall student enrollment in Michigan remains below pre-pandemic levels, white students experiencing the largest decline at 6.5%.

Academic performance has also suffered, with the state's average NAEP score dropping by 6.5 points and ethnic achievement gaps widening. Black and Hispanic students' average math proficiency dropped by 7% in 2022, to 13.5% and 28.2%, respectively.
