The National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) has announced that former Grand Valley State All-American and National Champion, Roger Singleton, will be inducted into the Jim Koch Division II Hall of Fame on July 26 at the Sawgrass Marriott in Florida. This event is part of the 2024 NWCA Convention festivities.

Singleton was a four-time National Qualifier and three-time All-American for the Lakers of Grand Valley State. He placed fifth in the nation as a sophomore in 1986 at 118 pounds, second as a junior in 1987, and won the 1989 NCAA Division II National Championship at 118 pounds as a senior. Singleton's Division II Championship also qualified him to compete in the NCAA Division I Championships, where he placed sixth overall. Singleton recorded a career record of 111-38-2 and was also a three-time Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) champion for the Lakers. He was inducted into the GVSU Athletics Hall of Fame in 1999.

Grand Valley State President Dr. Philomena V. Mantella will be the keynote speaker for the 2024 NWCA Convention. Mantella played a significant role in reinstating varsity wrestling at Grand Valley State. The university's wrestling team competed for the first time during the 2023-24 season after a 32-year hiatus, finishing 13th as a team at the NCAA Championships, with Josh Kenny claiming the NCAA Championship at 174 pounds with a second-period fall.
