The GVSU women's lacrosse team has announced the hiring of two graduate assistant coaches for the 2024-25 season. The new additions to the staff are former Laker All-American Aislynn Alkire and former Kent State standout Jackie Wolford.

Alkire concluded her Laker career this past spring, ending as one of the top defenders in program history. She ranks second in program history with 73 caused turnovers and her 114 groundballs rank sixth. A 2024 IWLCA Second-Team All-American, Alkire was part of the winningest class in Laker history, accumulating 64 wins over her four seasons.

She played a key role in leading the Lakers to four GLIAC Regular Season and Conference Titles, as well as the 2023 Midwest Regional Crown. Alkire was a three-time All-GLIAC and IWLCA All-Region selection and earned GLIAC Defender of the Year in 2024.

A Columbus, Ohio native, Wolford joins Grand Valley State after an impressive lacrosse career at Kent State University.

Wolford was a four-time all-conference selection as an attacker, earning conference Freshman of the Year in 2021 and MAC Offensive Player of the Year in 2023. She helped lead her team to its first regular season MAC title in 2023. She holds both Mid-American Conference and program records for points (241) and goals (197), along with single-season records for points (82) and goals (69) set in 2023. Wolford was a nominee for NCAA Woman of the Year in 2024 and graduated with a degree in Exercise Science.

Previously an assistant coach for Lucky Lax lacrosse club in Columbus, Ohio, Wolford now coaches a club team for Pure Summit in the Grand Rapids area.
