Grand Valley State head women's lacrosse coach, Mackenzie Lawler, announced today that she is resigning her post to become the associate head women's lacrosse coach at Florida State University. Lawler most recently completed her sixth season at Grand Valley State and took the program to new heights during her tenure.

Lawler posted a .835 winning percentage, going 81-16, including 38-1 in league play. She guided the Lakers to five GLIAC regular season titles and four GLIAC Tournament crowns. GVSU reached the NCAA Tournament three times under her leadership, claiming the program's first NCAA Tournament victory in 2022. That was followed by the program's first Midwest Regional Title as they advanced to the Final Four in 2023.

Lawler coached 10 players who achieved All-American status, with 31 claiming All-Region accolades, and 55 earning All-GLIAC honors. The Lakers were ranked every week of Lawler's six years, climbing as high as fifth in the IWLCA poll in 2023.

"I will always cherish my years spent at GVSU. I was blessed to work with wonderful assistant coaches, dedicated support staff, high character student-athletes, and amazing families over the past six years," Lawler stated. "I am incredibly proud of our accomplishments on the field, success in the classroom, and engagement in the community."

Grand Valley State will begin a search for the next head coach of the women's lacrosse program immediately.
