Junior defender Mackenzie Ford has been named the GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week for the first time in her career.
Ford played a pivotal role in leading the Laker defense to two 1-0 shutout victories against No. 9 Ashland and Cedarville. She played all 90 minutes in both matches, during which the Laker defense allowed only one shot on goal across both games.
GVSU is scheduled to travel to Missouri for a pair of non-conference matchups. They will face Northwest Missouri State on Friday, Sept. 13 at 5:00 PM, followed by a game against Central Missouri on Sunday, Sept. 15 at 2:00 PM.
