GVSU men's golf team finishes 11th at Folds of Honor Collegiate

The GVSU men's golf team concluded their first tournament of the season, securing 11th place at the Folds of Honor Collegiate in Grand Haven, Michigan.

Alabama emerged victorious after a strong final day performance, shooting seven under par over the last 18 holes to finish at twelve under par. Illinois secured second place at five under, followed by Texas in third at three over. Michigan State finished fourth with a score of nine over, and Notre Dame took fifth place at eleven over. GVSU ended the tournament in eleventh place with a score of forty over.

Drew Coble led the Lakers, tying for 14th place overall. Coble made four birdies during his round of 76 (+5), finishing three over par. Bryce Wheeler tied for 45th with a total score of fourteen over after his round of 70 (-1), which included four birdies. Charlie Cooley also tied for 45th, recording three birdies in his round of 73 (+2). Andrew Gwilliams tied for 55th with a total score of seventeen over following his round of 78 (+7) that featured four birdies. Manuel Cue Vargas ended at eighteen over after carding two birdies in his round of 75 (+4).

The Lakers will compete next week at home in the Folds of Honor Challenge held at the Meadows Golf Course.
