Junior defender Kacy Lauer has been named the GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week for the first time this season.

Lauer helped lead the Lakers to a significant road win at No. 4 Central Missouri, where she played all 90 minutes. She also appeared in all 90 minutes in a 1-1 draw at Northwest Missouri State, where the Lakers outshot the Bearcats 22-8. Lauer has appeared in all 90 minutes in three consecutive games.

This is the second consecutive week a Laker has been named defensive player of the week in the conference, as Mackenzie Ford earned that honor last week. GVSU will begin GLIAC play this weekend when they travel to the Upper Peninsula to face Northern Michigan on Friday (Sept. 20) and Michigan Tech on Sunday (Sept. 22).
