Grand Valley State women's soccer team ties with Saginaw Valley State

The Grand Valley State University women's soccer team, ranked No. 1, ended their match against Saginaw Valley State in a scoreless draw on Friday afternoon. This result brings the Lakers' season record to 5-0-2 and their conference record in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) to 2-0-1. The Cardinals now hold a 3-3-1 overall record and a 1-1-1 record in the GLIAC.

Throughout the game, GVSU dominated with 15 shots compared to Saginaw Valley's single shot. The Lakers also led in shots on goal with six, while the Cardinals had none. Additionally, GVSU earned eight corner kicks against Saginaw Valley's two.

Taylor Reid was at the forefront for the Lakers with three shots, one of which was on goal. Emma Chudik and Kendall Aikens each contributed two shots with one on goal, and Alli French added two more shots. Goalkeeper Cailynn Junk secured her third shutout of the season. Kacy Lauer, Daan Louwerse, and Danielle Aitken played all 90 minutes of the match.

The Lakers are set to return home for their next game on Sunday when they will host Parkside for senior day. The match is scheduled to begin at 1:00 PM at the GVSU Soccer Field and will be streamed live on FloSports.
