Grand Valley State defeats Parkside 3-0 on senior day

The No. 1 Grand Valley State women's soccer team secured a 3-0 victory over Parkside on Sunday, marking their senior day celebration. With this win, the Lakers improved their season record to 6-0-2 and their GLIAC standing to 3-0-1.

Grand Valley State (GVSU) started strong, recording eight shots within the first ten minutes of play, including four on goal. They also earned seven corner kicks in the first fifteen minutes, with six leading to shots.

The Lakers opened the scoring in the 43rd minute with Kacy Lauer netting her first goal of the season. Following two blocked shots in the box and an attempted clear by Parkside, Lauer gathered the ball, maneuvered past a defender, and scored with her left foot.

At halftime, GVSU led 1-0 and continued their offensive pressure into the second half. In the 54th minute, Nina Ferraro set up Taylor Reid on the right side who crossed to Emma Chudik in the middle of the box. Chudik finished at the bottom left corner for her third goal of the season. Reid recorded her third assist.

GVSU added a third goal in the 79th minute when Amanda Palmer's cross from the left found Ryann Fetty at the top of the box. Fetty scored her second goal of the season at the bottom right corner of Parkside's net. Palmer earned her first assist.

The Lakers dominated with a season-high 39 shots while limiting Parkside to six. GVSU had 13 shots on goal and produced 12 corner kicks compared to Parkside's one.

Emma Chudik led GVSU with five shots, three on target, and one goal. Ryann Fetty contributed four shots and one goal; Kacy Lauer scored off two shots while playing all ninety minutes. Kennedy Bearden registered five shots with two on target. Taylor Reid and Amanda Palmer each provided an assist and four shots.

Cailynn Junk started in goal for GVSU, earning her fifth win of the season (5-0-2). Isabel Imes played during the second half.
