Grand Valley State women's soccer team faces Purdue Northwest and Davenport

The Grand Valley State women's soccer team, ranked second in the United Soccer Coaches National Poll, is set to continue its GLIAC play this weekend. The Lakers will face Purdue Northwest on Friday at 3:00 PM and then travel to Davenport for a match on Sunday at 2:00 PM.

Currently leading the GLIAC standings with a record of 6-0-2 overall and 3-0-1 in conference play, GVSU recently secured a scoreless draw against Saginaw Valley State and achieved a 3-0 victory over Parkside. In the win against Parkside, the Lakers registered a season-high of 39 shots with six different players contributing points. Notably, their defense has been strong, not allowing any goals or shots on target during their last two games.

Emma Chudik leads the Lakers with three goals and seven points this season. Taylor Reid has provided three assists, while Kacy Lauer scored her first game-winning goal of the season against Parkside. Goalkeeper Cailynn Junk boasts a record of 5-0-2 with four shutouts so far.

Purdue Northwest holds second place in the GLIAC standings with an overall record of 5-0-2 and a conference mark of 2-0-1. They recently defeated Michigan Tech 2-1 and played to a scoreless draw against Northern Michigan. Amaris Gonzalez is among their key players, ranking second in the GLIAC with four goals and eight assists. Yoselin Garcia and Addison Thomas are tied for the league lead with four assists each.

Davenport enters the weekend holding a record of 2-3-3 overall and remains winless in conference play at 0-2-2. The Panthers have drawn their last two matches against Parkside and Ferris State. Haley Diekevers and Ella Chatfield lead Davenport's scoring efforts with two goals each, while Elizabeth Wolter has started all eight games as goalkeeper, recording three shutouts.
