The GVSU women's golf team has taken a significant lead after the first day of the Gilda's Club Laker Fall Invite at the Meadows in Allendale, Michigan. The Lakers finished with an opening round score of 303 (+15), establishing a 19-stroke advantage over Ferris State, which stands at +34. SVSU follows in third place at +36, while William Jewell, Davenport, and Rockhurst are tied for fourth at +41.
Paula Badino leads individually with a round of 73 (+1), achieving four birdies. Olivia Stoll is close behind in a tie for second place after making three birdies and finishing her round with a score of 74 (+2). Evelyn Park and Lorena Saquicoray are both tied for fifth with scores of 77 (+5), with Saquicoray recording one birdie.
In tenth place are Julia Sanchez, Charlotte Goersch, Megan Miron, and Lea Stotz, each shooting rounds of 78 (+6). Goersch and Miron each had two birdies, while Stotz and Sanchez managed one each. Rachael Krieger sits in fifteenth place following her round of 79 (+7) that included one birdie.
The tournament continues as GVSU tees off for the second round on Sunday morning at 9:30.
