The Black team emerged victorious over the Blue team with a score of 267-250 at the annual Grand Valley State Intersquad Meet held at the GVSU Fieldhouse Pool in Allendale, Michigan.
Freshman Esteban Nunez Del Prado led his team by winning three individual events. He excelled in the Men's 100 Yard Butterfly, clocking in at 50.59 seconds. He also secured first place in the 50 Yard Butterfly with a time of 22.75 seconds and completed the 100 Yard IM in 50.86 seconds.
Junior Sara Alvarez was among three swimmers who dominated with multiple event wins. She finished the Women's 1000 Yard Freestyle in 11:05.77, completed the 50 Yard Breaststroke in 30.86 seconds, and recorded a time of 1:05.94 in the 100 Yard Breaststroke. Junior Lucy Hedley also claimed victory in three events, including a time of 1:54.64 in the 200 Yard Freestyle, a swift finish of 24.13 seconds in the 50 Yard Freestyle, and completing her final race with a time of 5:10.42 in the 500 Yard Freestyle.
Sophomore Vittoria Proietti topped her events by winning first place in both the Women's 50 Yard Backstroke with a time of 27.46 seconds and the Women's 100 Yard Backstroke clocking at 58.55 seconds, as well as finishing at 1:01.77 in the Women's IM.
In diving competitions, Senior Maddie Kooistra achieved first place with a score of 168.30 in Women's one-meter diving while Sophomore Sadie Huizenga took top honors on the three-meter board scoring at 179.45 points. Junior Carter Wood excelled by winning both men's diving events, scoring a remarkable total of points for his performances.
The relay races saw Angelica Angilletta, Carsyn Christoffel, Brennan Neitzel, and Annabelle Nixon win the Mixed 200 yard Freestyle Relay with a time of "1:31.52". Meanwhile, Ammar Eltaranisy, Liv Geiger, Lucy Hedley, and Esteban Nunez Del Prado triumphed in the Mixed Medley Relay recording "1:40.04".
Coach Boyce expressed optimism as he prepares his team for another GLIAC Championship run this season.
Grand Valley State is set to begin their competitive season on October "12" against University of Calvin and Saginaw Valley State at Venema Aquatic Center starting from "1 p.m."
