The No. 2 ranked Grand Valley State University women's soccer team suffered a narrow defeat against Davenport on Sunday, October 6, in Caledonia, Michigan. The Lakers lost 1-0, bringing their season record to six wins, one loss, and three draws. In the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC), they now hold a record of three wins, one loss, and two draws.

Davenport secured victory with a decisive goal in the 83rd minute from a header delivered from the middle of the box. Despite the setback, GVSU outshot their opponents 13 to 11 and had more shots on goal with six compared to Davenport's four. The Lakers also dominated in corner kicks with three opportunities while restricting Davenport to none.
