The Grand Valley State University men's and women's cross country teams have been predicted to lead the 2024 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) season. The announcement was made public on August 29, 2024.
Both teams are coming off a strong performance in the previous year. The women's team secured their 22nd consecutive NCAA Midwest Regional title and won the 2023 GLIAC Championship. They concluded the season by clinching the 2023 NCAA Division II Cross Country National Championship, marking their 29th national title in program history.
The men's team also had a successful season, winning the GLIAC Championship and their 21st consecutive regional victory at the NCAA Midwest Regional Championships. Despite being ranked third nationally, they finished seventh at Nationals with four runners placing in the Top 50.
For the upcoming season, both squads will see key athletes returning. The women's team will welcome back 17 athletes, including Lauren Kiley and Allie Arnsman, who finished in the Top 35 at NCAA Nationals. On the men's side, Koby Fraaza and Caleb Futter return after earning USTFCCCA All-American Honors for their performances last year.
Grand Valley State's cross country teams will begin their new season on September 13 at Michigan State University's Spartan Invitational in Lansing.
