GVSU men's golf leads by eight strokes entering final round

The GVSU men's golf team is leading after two rounds at the Doc Spragg Invitational in Findlay, Ohio. The team, having secured victories in the past two seasons, currently holds an eight-stroke lead with one round remaining.

GVSU finished the first day with rounds of 278 (-10) and 281 (-7), ending at -17. They are ahead of second-place Findlay, which stands at -9. Ashland follows in third place at three under par, while Wayne State is fourth at -1. Ferris State is fifth with an even par.

Drew Coble leads individually by five strokes after scoring 67 (-5) and 66 (-6). He achieved five birdies in each round and added an eagle in the second round. Charlie Cooley is in third place with rounds of 68 (-4) and 71 (-1), recording ten birdies overall. Bryce Wheeler sits in 15th place at one under par, shooting rounds of 71 (-1) and 72 (E). Manuel Cue Vargas is tied for 31st after shooting a 72 and a 74 (+2), making nine birdies across his two rounds. Jan Eckhard is tied for 37th following scores of 75 (+3) and 72, with four birdies to end three over par.

The final round will see GVSU teeing off tomorrow morning as they aim to maintain their lead and secure another victory at the invitational.
