Grand Valley State secures dominant win against Saginaw Valley State

The Grand Valley State University women's soccer team, ranked 24th, secured a decisive 5-0 victory over Saginaw Valley State on Sunday. This win brings the Lakers' season record to 9-1-3 and their conference record in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) to 6-1-2.

The match saw an early lead for GVSU when Alli French scored her third goal of the season in the sixth minute, assisted by Emma Chudik. French's shot from near the top left corner of the box found its way past the goalkeeper into the top right corner of the net.

In the second half, Vesna Dennison extended GVSU's lead with her first career goal as a Laker in the 47th minute. Her header off a corner kick slipped past SVSU's keeper into the bottom right corner.

Emma Chudik added another goal for GVSU in the 65th minute, marking her fourth of the season. Taylor Reid crossed from the right side to Ryann Fetty, whose blocked shot rebounded to Chudik for a successful finish.

Ryann Fetty then scored her third goal of this season two minutes later, assisted by Ella Kleiver. Dennison concluded GVSU's scoring with her second goal of the game in the 77th minute from another corner kick.

GVSU dominated offensively with a total of 19 shots compared to SVSU's six and held a significant advantage with 15 shots on target during the second half alone. Dennison contributed two goals from three shots, while Fetty recorded one goal and one assist from four attempts. Chudik also tallied both a goal and an assist on two shots. Assists were provided by Alex Williams, Taylor Reid, and Ella Kleiver.
