Lakers women's golf team narrowly loses to Catawba at UNG Match Play Event

The GVSU women's golf team participated in the UNG Match Play Event held in Homer, Georgia. In their opening round, they faced Catawba and were narrowly defeated with a score of 3-2.

In the individual matchups, Julia Sanchez secured a victory for the Lakers with a round of 73, winning by seven strokes. Stoll also contributed to the team's efforts by shooting a round of 70 and winning by five strokes. Despite these successes, Paula Badino lost her match by three strokes after shooting a round of 75. Rachael Krieger had a close contest but ultimately lost by two strokes with her round of 77. Megan Miron rounded out the competition for GVSU with an 83, losing her matchup by six strokes.

Following this initial defeat, the Lakers began their consolation semifinal against Columbus State later in the day. However, play was halted due to darkness before it could be completed.
