GVSU women's golf team finishes fifth at UNG Match Play Event

The GVSU women's golf team concluded their participation in the UNG Match Play Event, securing a fifth-place finish. The event took place in Homer, Georgia, where the Lakers competed against Columbus State and West Georgia.

The competition against Columbus State resumed after being postponed due to darkness. GVSU emerged victorious with a 4-1 scoreline. Key performances came from Olivia Stoll, Megan Miron, Paula Badino, and Rachael Krieger. Stoll led with a low round of 73, winning by one stroke. Krieger finished with a 75 to secure a five-stroke win. Badino's 77 gave her a two-stroke victory, while Miron also shot a 77 to win by 26 strokes. Julia Sanchez shot a 79 but was defeated by two strokes.

In the final match against West Georgia, the Lakers won again with a score of 4-1. Victories were achieved by Olivia Stoll, Julia Sanchez, Megan Miron, and Paula Badino. Stoll shot a 76 to win by two strokes; Sanchez secured her win by three strokes with an 80. Badino delivered the best performance for GVSU with a round of 73 to win by nine strokes; Miron completed her match shooting a 79 for a three-stroke victory. Rachael Krieger lost her match scoring an 84 against her opponent's 77.

The Lakers are set to close out their regular season at the UMSL Ladies Spring Invitational next Sunday and Monday.
