The Grand Valley State University (GVSU) women's basketball team is set to begin their postseason journey in the GLIAC Tournament. The Lakers, who have secured the top seed with a 17-1 conference record, will face off against Purdue Northwest on Wednesday evening. The Pride holds the eighth seed with a 6-12 record in the league.

In their final weekend of regular season play, GVSU achieved victories over Northern Michigan University and Michigan Tech during their annual Upper Peninsula trip. The Lakers required overtime to secure a 74-67 win against NMU, marking coach Mike Williams' 234th career victory and establishing him as the winningest coach in program history. Rylie Bisballe reached a milestone by surpassing 1,000 career points with her career-high performance of 28 points. Hadley Miller contributed by scoring four three-pointers for a total of 12 points.

Against Michigan Tech, GVSU emerged victorious in a defensive game with a score of 57-46. After scoring only 22 points in the first half, they managed to add another 35 in the second half. Bisballe scored ten out of her total seventeen points during this period. With an overall record of 26-2, GVSU is ranked second in last week's WBCA poll.

The two previous encounters between GVSU and Purdue Northwest this season had different outcomes for the Lakers. In their initial meeting at home, GVSU won decisively with a score of 92-53, led by Nicole Kamin's twenty-point performance. In contrast, their rematch was closely contested as GVSU narrowly won with a score of 55-53 after surviving a late comeback attempt from Purdue Northwest.

Purdue Northwest enters this tournament having lost three out of their last four games and holds an overall record of 11-17 along with being led by top scorers Dash Shaw and Mercedes Simmons who average around seventeen and sixteen points per game respectively.

Wednesday's game will be available through live stats and video streaming while also being broadcasted on radio stations such as "The Ticket," "WLCS," and "Thunder Country." For comprehensive coverage including live updates during gameplay follow @gvsuwbb on Twitter or visit gvsulakers.com.
