For the third consecutive season, the Grand Valley State University (GVSU) women's basketball team is set to compete in the Midwest Regional Championship game. The match, which holds a place in the Elite Eight as its prize, will see GVSU face off against their Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) rival Ferris State on Monday night at 7:00 PM.

GVSU advanced to this stage by defeating Northern Michigan with a decisive score of 72-44 in the semifinal round. Nicole Kamin played a significant role by scoring 20 points, matching her career high. Rylie Bisballe contributed 19 points and secured seven rebounds, while Paige Vanstee added 11 points. Meanwhile, Ferris State earned their spot by overcoming defending National Champions Ashland with a score of 64-59. Ferris managed to maintain their lead despite multiple comeback attempts from Ashland.

Throughout this season, GVSU and Ferris State have each won one game against each other on their respective home courts. In Big Rapids, Ferris State won with a score of 71-65 after dominating the second and third quarters. However, GVSU staged a strong comeback that fell short. In Allendale, GVSU emerged victorious with a score of 63-38 after leading by eight at halftime and outscoring Ferris State significantly in the second half.

Ferris State has shown strong performance recently, winning six out of seven games since losing to GVSU in late February. Their leading scorer and rebounder Chloe Idoni was named D2CCA All-Region last week; she averages 16.9 points and 6.1 rebounds per game and has scored an average of 22 points during the NCAA Tournament so far. Additionally, Kadyn Blanchard had notable performances against Lewis and Ashland with double-doubles.

Monday's championship game offers various ways for fans to follow along: live stats and video will be available online, radio coverage will be provided locally on WXSP TV (Channel 15 in Grand Rapids), and updates can be followed on Twitter via @gvsuwbb or through gvsulakers.com.
