Grand Valley State wrestling returns to NCAA DII regional after three decades

The Grand Valley State University (GVSU) men's wrestling team is set to compete in the NCAA Division II Regional Tournament this Saturday, March 2, at West Liberty University. This marks a significant moment for the #11-ranked GVSU team as they participate at the varsity level for the first time in 32 years.

The tournament will feature 12 schools, with individual wrestlers needing to place in the top three of their weight class to advance to the National Tournament scheduled for March 15-16 in Wichita, Kansas. The seedings for individual competitors have not yet been announced.

Representing GVSU across ten weight classes are:

- At 125 pounds, #9 Aaron Lucio with a record of 12-10.

- In the 133-pound category, Collin Twigg holding an 18-10 record.

- Competing at 141 pounds is Jak Keller with a 15-16 record.

- For the 149-pound class, #4 Chris Donathan remains undefeated at 22-0.

- Caden Jacobs will represent the team at 157 pounds with a record of 10-20.

- Trammel Robinson enters the competition at 165 pounds with a record of 24-15.

- Ranked #2 in his class, Josh Kenny will compete at 174 pounds with a strong record of 25-5.

- Seth Konynenbelt is set to wrestle at 184 pounds with a record of 24-13.

- At 197 pounds, #9 Wyatt Miller holds an impressive record of 24-4.

- Owen Hawley rounds out the team competing in the heavyweight division with a record of 17-13.

These athletes aim to secure top positions and advance further into national-level competition.
