The GVSU women's basketball team concluded their season in the Midwest Regional Championship game with a close loss to Ferris State, ending with a score of 49-46. This marks the end of the Lakers' impressive season, finishing with a record of 31-3.

Ferris State took an early lead, scoring 6-2, but GVSU managed to narrow the gap to 12-11 by the end of the first quarter. The Lakers started strong in the second quarter with a 7-0 run initiated by Hadley Miller's three-pointer. However, Ferris State regained control and ended the half leading 25-21 after a 13-3 run.

In the second half, Ferris extended their advantage with a 10-3 run, bringing their lead to 35-24. The Lakers responded by narrowing the deficit to two points, closing out the third quarter at 36-34.

During the fourth quarter, both teams exchanged baskets. Ferris State maintained a slight edge throughout and despite GVSU's efforts to close in on them, they could only bring their deficit down to one point. On their final possession, GVSU attempted a three-point shot that could have tied the game but missed.

Rylie Bisballe was notable for her performance with 16 points and six rebounds. Nicole Kamin and Paige Vanstee contributed eight points and four rebounds each.
