The Grand Valley State men's tennis team marked their first home match of the spring season with a victory against Grace College, winning 5-2 on Thursday at the Premier Athletic and Tennis Club. This win brought the Lakers' season record to 3-3.
The team secured the doubles point by sweeping all matches. Sean Miller and Victor Lopes achieved a 6-4 win in the top doubles position. Chimo Minguez and Jorge Ruiz dominated with a 6-0 win at No. 2 doubles, while Lawrence Ivanov and Stephen Claassen added a 6-2 victory at No. 3 doubles.
In singles competition, Denys Zamaraiev had a commanding performance with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles. Jorge Ruiz won in straight sets, 6-0, 6-3, at No. 3 singles. Chimo Minguez earned a straight set victory of 6-3, 6-3 at No. 4 singles, and Stephen Claassen secured another dominant win with scores of 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 singles. At the top singles spot, Sean Miller lost in a closely contested three-set match (2-6, 7-5, 4-10). Ignasi Garros was defeated with scores of 3-6, 2-6 at No. 6 singles.
