The Grand Valley State men's tennis team secured a decisive victory against Lake Superior State with a 7-0 win on Friday afternoon at the GVSU Tennis Courts. This triumph brought the Lakers' season record to 12-6 and their conference record in the GLIAC to 3-2.
In doubles play, GVSU claimed all matches to earn the doubles point. Sean Miller and Freddy Cossio achieved a 6-2 victory at the top doubles position. Jorge Ruiz and Chimo Minguez won 6-1 at No. 2 doubles, while Lawrence Ivanov and Stephen Claassen completed the sweep with a 6-3 win at No. 3 doubles.
During singles competition, Denys Zamaraiev secured a straight-set win of 6-4, 6-1 at the top singles position. Sean Miller overcame his opponent in three sets with scores of 5-7, 6-0, and 10-7 at No. 2 singles. Lucas Gonzalez earned a straightforward victory of 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3 singles. Victor Lopes won his match with scores of 6-2, 6-3 at No.4 singles. Chimo Minguez dominated his opponent with a scoreline of 6-1, 6-2 at No.5 singles, while Ignasi Garros completed the sweep with another straight-set win of 6-2, 6-3 at No. six singles.
