The Grand Valley State men's tennis team secured a 5-2 victory against Findlay on Saturday evening, concluding their weekend road trip on a positive note. This win improves the Lakers' record to 2-3 for the season.
In doubles play, GVSU swept all matches to earn the doubles point. Sean Miller and Victor Lopes achieved a 7-5 win at the top doubles position. Chimo Minguez and Jorge Ruiz secured a 6-4 victory at No. 2 doubles, while Stephen Claassen and Lawrence Ivanov clinched a 6-2 win at No. 3 doubles.
For singles matches, Sean Miller posted an impressive performance with a 6-0, 3-0 result at the top singles position. Denys Zamaraiev claimed a straight-set victory of 6-4, 7-5 at No. 3 singles. Jorge Ruiz dominated his match with a score of 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5 singles, and Stephen Claassen recorded a straight-set win of 6-1, 6-3 at No. 6 singles. Victor Lopes faced defeat in a close match with scores of 1-6, 6-7 at No. 3 singles, while Chimo Minguez fell short with scores of 6-7, 3-6 at No.4 singles.
Looking ahead, the Lakers are scheduled to play against Grace College in Winona Lake, Indiana next Thursday morning before returning home for their first home match of the spring season against Walsh on Friday afternoon.
