GVSU men's golf team finishes fifth in Copperhead Championship

The Grand Valley State University (GVSU) men's golf team concluded their fall season with a fifth-place finish at the Copperhead Championship in Palm Harbor, Florida. The competition featured several ranked teams, with the Lakers led by Charlie Cooley's strong performance.

In the tournament results, Lee University secured the team title, finishing one over par and two strokes ahead of host West Florida. West Florida took second place at three over par, followed by Oklahoma Christian in third at ten over. Coker College moved into fourth place at 12 over par, while GVSU rounded out the top five with a score of 15 over par.

Charlie Cooley was a standout for GVSU, shooting a final round of 70 (-1) and making five birdies to tie for third place overall at three under par. Manuel Cue Vargas tied for 19th place with a score of four over par after carding a final round of 73 (+2) with two birdies. Drew Coble also shot a final round of 73, making three birdies to end in a tie for 29th place at seven over par. Nick Krueger matched Coble's position on the leaderboard with his own final round of 78 (+7), which included one birdie. Alex Jordan finished tied for 89th place at 27 over par after shooting an 80 (+9) in his last round.
