GVSU men's golf team starts spring season at Lander Bearcat Classic

The GVSU men's golf team is set to commence their spring season at the Lander Bearcat Classic in South Carolina. The tournament, scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, includes 20 teams, with three ranked in the latest GCAA poll.

The Lakers enter the competition as the top-ranked team at number four. Host team Lander holds the 12th spot, while Barton College ranks 21st. Several other participating teams received votes in the poll.

During the fall season, GVSU participated in five tournaments, securing victories in three and placing fifth in another. The Lakers claimed wins at the Folds of Honor Challenge, Indianapolis Invite, and Doc Spragg Invitational.

Individually, Drew Coble stands out as he begins spring ranked 12th nationally after a win and runner-up finish in fall events. Nick Krueger is positioned 51st following a victory and another top-five finish. Charlie Cooley starts spring ranked 66th with three top-10 finishes from fall competitions. Manuel Cue Vargas rounds out GVSU's top-100 players at rank 93 with three top-10 finishes during the previous season.
