Grand Valley State advances after sweeping Ferris State in NCAA tournament

The Grand Valley State men's tennis team secured a decisive 4-0 victory against Ferris State in the NCAA Tournament on Monday in Big Rapids. This win marks an improvement in their season record to 15-7.

GVSU started strong by winning the doubles point with victories at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. Sean Miller and Freddy Cossio achieved a 6-3 win at the top singles position, while Lucas Gonzalez and Victor Lopes recorded a 6-4 win at No. 3 singles.

In singles matches, Denys Zamaraiev clinched the overall victory with a three-set triumph of 7-5, 4-6, 6-3 at the top doubles position. Victor Lopes also won his match with scores of 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 at No. 4 singles. Freddy Cossio completed his match with a straight set victory of 6-1, 6-4 at No. 6 singles.

Following this success, the Lakers will advance to the second round of the NCAA Tournament where they are set to compete against either Wayne State or Tiffin on Tuesday morning in Big Rapids, with play beginning at 10:00 AM.
