The GVSU men's golf team secured a victory at the Ken Partridge Invitational, concluding their regular season with their sixth win overall and third of the spring. The Lakers maintained their lead throughout the tournament to finish six strokes ahead of their closest competitor.
The final round saw the Lakers score 289 (+1), holding off Missouri S&T, who recorded a low round of 285 (-3) to secure second place at five over. Host UIndy finished third at nine over with a final round of 293 (+5). Wayne State ended fourth at +16, carding a 286 (-2), while UMSL completed the top five at +24 after shooting 296 (+8).
Among individual performances, Drew Coble and Bryce Wheeler both tied for third place at three under par. They each shot even-par rounds of 72, with Coble making three birdies and Wheeler sinking five. Nick Krueger was tied for 15th at six over, having made three birdies in his final round of 74 (+2). Charlie Cooley ended in a tie for 28th after scoring an 81 (+9) with one birdie, finishing nine over. Manuel Cue Vargas achieved a round of 71 (-1) with four birdies, tying for 44th place at +11.
Looking ahead, the Lakers are set to begin postseason play this weekend as they compete in the GLIAC Championships starting Friday in Augusta, Michigan.
