Grand Valley State tennis team achieves fifth straight win against Northwood

The Grand Valley State men's tennis team achieved their fifth consecutive victory with a 7-0 win against Northwood on Saturday evening. This result improves the Lakers' season record to 6-3.

The team secured the doubles point by winning all matches in this category. Sean Miller and Freddy Cossio won 6-3 at the top doubles position, while Chimo Minguez and Jorge Ruiz also claimed a 6-3 victory at No. 2 doubles. Stephen Claassen and Lawrence Ivanov completed the sweep with a 6-2 win at No. 3 doubles.

In singles play, Denys Zamaraiev won his match with scores of 6-1, 6-4 at the top singles position. Sean Miller followed with a decisive 6-2, 6-0 victory at No. 2 singles. Chimo Minguez emerged victorious after three sets, winning 6-2, 3-6, 6-2 at No. 3 singles. Stephen Claassen added another straight-set win with scores of 6-2, 6-1 at No. 4 singles. Ignasi Garros and Freddy Cossio also contributed to the shutout with wins of 6-2, 6-1 and 6-4, 6-2 respectively.

The Lakers are scheduled to face Azusa Pacific in California on Monday, March 4th, with the first serve set for 2:30 PM ET.
