Grand Valley State University (GVSU) set a new record for attendance at Lubbers Stadium in 2023, drawing a total of 100,882 attendees over eight home games. This surpasses the previous record of 100,388 set during the 2016 season. GVSU maintained its position as the leader in both total and average per game attendance in Division II football for the twelfth consecutive year.
In 2023, GVSU also surpassed the two million mark for all-time total attendance at Lubbers Stadium, reaching 2,039,804. The Lakers' regular season attendance totaled 82,555, exceeding the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) combined total of 80,117.
The Lakers concluded their season as GLIAC Champions with an overall record of 11-2 and advanced to the NCAA Division II Quarterfinals.
