Grand Valley State University (GVSU) has unveiled its 2024 football schedule, featuring six home games. The schedule includes a return match against Ferris State at Lubbers Stadium and an away game at Saginaw Valley State. This year's schedule rotation in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has been adjusted to accommodate a new member, Roosevelt.
Season tickets for the upcoming season will be available starting Wednesday, February 7. Fans can purchase tickets through gvsutickets.com or by calling 616-331-3200 during business hours. GVSU has led Division II football attendance for 12 years and set a record with 100,882 attendees in 2023. Due to high demand, early purchase of season tickets is recommended.
"Our schedule is once again extremely challenging in 2024," stated Scott Wooster, head football coach in his second year. "In terms of the non-conference slate, we have a new opponent in Central State that we have not played since 1987, a return to Colorado State-Pueblo, Division III football power in Wisconsin-La Crosse and a first-time meeting with Division II national power West Florida. You then roll into a seven-game GLIAC schedule that is a grind week-to-week when you face some of the best teams in the country," added Wooster.
The Lakers will begin their season at home against Central State on September 5. They will travel to Colorado State-Pueblo on September 14 and host Wisconsin-La Crosse on Family Day, September 21. On September 28, GVSU will face West Florida at Lubbers Stadium.
GLIAC play starts with an away game at Davenport on October 5, followed by Homecoming against Northern Michigan on October 12. The team will visit Saginaw Valley State on October 19 and host Ferris State for the Anchor-Bone Classic on October 26. Wayne State visits Lubbers Stadium for the regular-season home finale on November 2 before GVSU travels to Michigan Tech on November 9 and concludes the regular season at Roosevelt on November 16.
GVSU ended the previous season with an impressive record of 11-2 and was ranked third in the final Division II poll.
A new ticket payment option allows fans to reserve seats with a 50% deposit by March 29 and pay the remainder by August 1. This plan is available only by phone at the number provided above.
