GVSU leads Ken Partridge Invitational ahead of final round

The Grand Valley State University (GVSU) men's golf team continues to lead the Ken Partridge Invitational in Noblesville, Indiana. After two rounds, the Lakers hold a six-stroke advantage over their nearest competitor with only one round remaining.

In the second round, GVSU posted a score of 279 (-9), maintaining their lead at two under par overall. The University of Indianapolis (UIndy) is in second place, also shooting a 279 for the day and standing at +4. Missouri S&T follows in third position with a total of +8 after carding 281 (-7). The University of Missouri-St. Louis (UMSL) holds fourth place at +16, having scored 291 (+3). Wayne State rounds out the top five with a score of 282 (-6), entering the final round at +18.

Bryce Wheeler and Drew Coble from GVSU are both tied for third place individually. Wheeler finished his day with a score of 71 (-1), including five birdies, reaching three under par overall. Coble matched him at three under after shooting a round of 68 (-4), highlighted by six birdies on his card. Charlie Cooley stands tied for fifth at even par after scoring one under today with four birdies.

Nick Krueger shot a commendable 69 (-3) featuring five birdies, tying him for 16th place at four over par. Manuel Cue Vargas ended his round tied for 68th place at +12 after posting a score of 77 (+5), which included two birdies.

The final round will be played tomorrow as GVSU seeks to maintain its leading position.
