Colton Hyble earns first-team academic all-American honor

Grand Valley State University's senior defensive end, Colton Hyble, has been named a College Sports Communicators First-Team Academic All-American. This announcement comes as recognition of Hyble's contributions to the Lakers' successful 2023 season, where they secured the GLIAC Championship and achieved a final national ranking of third.

Hyble's performance in 2023 included earning CSC Second-Team All-America honors. His statistics for the season were impressive, with 41 tackles, five tackles for loss totaling negative 19 yards, and 2.5 quarterback sacks resulting in negative 13 yards. Additionally, he recorded five quarterback hurries, two fumble recoveries, and three pass breakups. His efforts were instrumental in a defense that led the nation with 51 quarterback sacks and ranked seventh in tackles for loss with a total of 95.

Throughout his career at Grand Valley State, Hyble accumulated notable stats including 151 career tackles, 15 quarterback sacks, and 31.5 tackles for loss.

The Lakers concluded their season with an overall record of 11-2 and reached the NCAA Quarterfinals.
