GVSU Laker football ranks third nationally after successful season

The Grand Valley State University (GVSU) Laker football team concluded their 2023 season ranked third in the final national polls by both the AFCA Coaches and D2football.com. The Lakers ended the season with an overall record of 11-2, securing their second consecutive Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championship and reaching the NCAA Division II quarterfinals.

Throughout the season, GVSU faced eight teams that were nationally ranked at the time of their games. They also played against five teams that finished among the top six in the final rankings.

In 2023, marking their 52nd year of competition, the Lakers maintained an impressive all-time record of 442 wins, 151 losses, and three ties (.744 winning percentage). Their performance within the GLIAC stands at a notable record of 315 wins, 77 losses, and three ties (.801 winning percentage).
